Horrible Luck in Poker

[ English ]

For a game where most gamblers occasionally consider good luck, there are tonnes of folklore in poker. When you say that an individual was fortunate in that poker tournament they captured, be careful of how you say it. For example, if you say that you were unfortunate, your luck may never change.

Ok, that may appear to be a bit strange, but poker is a game loaded with folklores. Did you know that if you’re wagering a game with two different decks and you’re asked to pick the deck, you should always choose the deck that is the furthest away from you? Or, what If you get a streak of bad cards, you need to hang out on a hankerchief to break your terrible luck? It’s certainly considered good fortune to blow through a deck of cards when they’re being mixed up.

Some other interesting poker folklores are:

  • You can change the run of cards by passing around your chair 3 times.
  • The luckiest spot at the poker table faces the door.
  • The worst seat has its back to a fireplace.
  • When changing spots, you need to always do so clockwise.
  • The unluckiest poker card is the four of clubs.
  • It’s most unlucky to cross your legs when sitting at the poker table.
  • Fri is a poor day for playing cards.
  • The thirteenth is also a terrible day, despite when it falls during the week.
