Focus Attention on Annie Duke

Mrs. Duke might not have earned her first World Series of Poker Bracelet until two thousand and four but she is still one of the most feared poker players around the ring matches at The Bellagio in Las Vegas. Annie’s longawaited WSOP bracelet came with a win at the "buried game" of Omaha hi lo.

While players from the "younger crowd" of poker run wild after a large win at the tournament, Annie heads home to be "mom" to her 4 kids. She grew up in New Hampshire into a family of card players. If you do not believe that, observe her brother, Howard Lederer, in action who educated her how to wager on the game.

However, Mrs. Duke is no small fry kind of girl and has captured her share of challenging tables, including eliminating Howard along the way on a couple of occasions. They’re both competitors that have the skill to win the large money and do so with a smile.

Annie Duke is a tough competitor at any poker table due to the fact that she is a real poker player, but it is a bit more than simply being skilled at the game. Annie Duke is extremely smart and graduated from Columbia U where she took a double major in Psychology and English.

When you are seated across from Annie at the poker table you’ll see she is there to play the game and she begins "sizing" you up as soon as you join the table. If you cannot play like a camp, then don’t bother.

Earning over three million dollars in tournament competitions, Annie Duke branched out to become a adviser to both UltimateBet.com and actor Ben Affleck, who aspired to enhance his skills and grow into a power at the tables.

You will likely glimpse her at the Bellagio, you’ll definitely see Annie on TV and you might even play against her in a cyber poker game, but do not count on a simple win. Except of course you are a camp-in-the-making, you won’t beat her. However, it’d be fun to mention you played at the same table as "The Duke".
