Online Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the closing poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He won a big pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest gamblers around the world. While betting on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. Gus frequently plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus generally buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Gus is an excellent poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy in.
Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the best poker players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amount. I think tv can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest players anywhere in the world could be guys you have will not have heard about. Gus can be found competing in web poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in big stakes omaha hi-low and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in money rounds?
