Web High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to make it to the last table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a big pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest players in the world. While gambling on online poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I accept that Gus is a great poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be 1 of the best poker players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full dollar value. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world at times. The best players in the world may be guys you have never heard of. Gus can be seen participating in internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in big stakes Omaha and hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in cash games?
