Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender on the globe by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he possibly could about the game. Phil would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative comments from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

He began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. He admits to making errors every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
