NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker contender in the world by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the adverse comments from others annihilate his dream of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.
Phil started competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and a continuing passion for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is incredibly humble about his success. He knows he makes errors every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
