NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player in the world by many of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover everything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the adverse comments from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
He began competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil admits to making errors in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
