Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player on the globe by many of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup everything he could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative comments from others kill his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed many of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for poker. He states that he is picking up skills every day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Although Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
