Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only player to achieve closing poker table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a massive pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best players anywhere in the world. While playing online poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus frequently buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all-in. I know Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has no reason to sit at the table with the min buy in.

Playing for the min takes almost all of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the greatest players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total dollar value. I believe tv can alter our perception of the real world at times. The greatest players in the world may be guys you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be found betting on online poker on Full Tilt. He generally participates in high stakes omaha high and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in money games?
