The value of Poker Position
Hold’em is simply about individuals and seating. All experienced Texas Hold’em enthusiasts agree that seating in no limit Hold’em is fundamentally significant. Playing your hole cards in late spot can be a whole lot more profitable than in early poker position. This is because a lot more data is amassed before acting.
e.g., I was playing a $1-$2 no limit cash match at a local poker room. I came in holding 2, 9 unsuited on the croupier button, just to partake in some excitement. Flop came down A-A-4. A bettor in early position laid a $15 wager. 2 players drop out and it was my turn to act. I really should have folded, but something seemed a bit odd. I read this person as a weak-tight player, and typically if he held the biggest hand he would just check, so I called.
The turn showed with a 7, meaning it was a A-A-4-7. My challenger placed another wager of $20. I hesitated for a while, but took a chance to re-raise a further $30thirty dollars on top of his $20. He dropped out and I won the pot.
Betting at late position allows you an idea where you are positioned by studying how entrants react and bet. On the flip side, individuals at early spot might use their poker spot to check-raise the last seated antagonists and trap them later at the end. In Texas Hold’em, each spots, late and starting should be played carefully.
