NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental comments from other people destroy his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.
Phil began competing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an undying passion for the game of poker. He states that he is learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. He admits to making blunders in each session of poker and always strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
