Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to achieve closing poker table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a big pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best gamblers anywhere in the world. While participating in net poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. He often participates in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus more often than not buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then goes all in. I know Gus is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless he is flat broke, he has little or no reason to play at the game with the min buy in.

Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the greatest poker players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amt.. I believe television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The best poker players anywhere in the world might just be guys you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be seen playing web poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in high stakes omaha/8 and hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in cash rounds?
